Fundraising

What’s involved?

Projects in developing countries can face many challenges; not least financial hardships. When we travel to Africa, the entire construction project will have been funded by what the pupils and staff of the project have raised collectively.

Pupils involved in the project are responsible for their own fundraising. This is a big part of preparing for the project. Pupils are expected to organise events and sponsored activities in order to reach their personal fundraising totals.

In-School & Whole Group Fundraising

In order to support both the project and the fundraising efforts of the pupils involved a number of in-school and whole group fundraising tasks are organised in the lead up to the project.

We have hosted race nights and quiz nights in the school which have been great events enjoyed by all who came along. Most importantly; they raised a lot of money for the project! We have also bag-packed in a local supermarket and the male members of the project (including staff) have had their legs waxed in a sponsored event. Ouch!

External Support

We have also been lucky to receive support from the Catenian Bursary Fund, who very kindly awarded a number of pupils bursaries towards each of their fundraising goals.

The Beatrice Foundation have also kindly donated a large sum towards the project. We are eternally grateful to all who have helped support the St Columba’s High School Africa Project.
