World Book Day was a great success today!  The variety of characters was fabulous – well done everyone!  You could hear a pin drop today at 11am when all the ‘big ones’ read to all the ‘wee ones’.  We’re all so proud of how nurturing, caring and responsible our Newarkers are. :-))

Netball Team

Newark Primary took part in the Inverclyde netball competition.   We had 2 teams who both played very well.  One team won their section and got into the final.  Alas, they didn’t win their final game so came 2nd and received silver medals.  As usual, we are proud to say that our children were great ambassadors to the school and other teams commented on their sportsmanship and behaviour.  Well done, everyone and thank you Mrs Gilbride for being a fabulous coach!

Primary 7a Valentine’s Enterprise

Primary 7 hosted a wonderful Valentine’s stall, selling cakes, sweets, cards, red roses and heart-shaped balloons for children to buy for someone they love.

The money they raised was for School Funds.  Thank you, Miss Munro and Primary 7a for all your hard work!

Learning in Action Week P7

On Friday 4th October, the parents of P7 pupils were invited to observe and participate in a gymnastics lesson.  During the previous weeks, pupils had been working on creating individual gymnastic sequences which incorporated balances, rolls and jumps.  During the lesson, various stations were set up around the hall for parents to observe gymnastic skills (e.g. individual sequences, group sequences, full horse for jumps/flips, half horse for rolls, balances and jumps, wall bars encouraging freedom of movement, balance beams).

Inverclyde P7 Commonwealth Games Event

P7 pupils across Inverclyde were invited to participate in an event organised by the Active Schools Team to mark one year until the Commonwealth Games being held in Glasgow. Pupils were split into teams to take part in various sports including rugby, hockey, netball and athletics. Congratulations to all pupils for their efforts on the day. Special mention to Newark B hockey team who won bronze medals. Everyone agreed it was a great day.
