The Youth Music Initiative (YMI) exists to provide young people throughout Scotland with inspiring and engaging musical experiences. These musical experiences take place within schools to enable access and participation for all.
The Scottish Government provides funding via Creative Scotland for each of Scotland’s 32 local authorities to run a Youth Music Initiative programme. Scottish Borders Council Children and Young People’s Services manages the Youth Music Initiative programme within the Borders. For more information visit www.creativescotland.com

Every year we need to report back to Creative Scotland, our funders and the schools feedback is a vital part of this . The annual report relies on all the local authorities feedback and helps to inform the Governments decision on funding the YMI Formula programme each year.
