What We Do

The Youth Music Initiative (YMI) exists to provide young people throughout Scotland with inspiring and engaging musical experiences. These musical experiences take place within schools to enable access and participation for all.

The Scottish Government provides funding via Creative Scotland for each of Scotland’s 32 local authorities to run a Youth Music Initiative programme. Scottish Borders Council Children and Young People’s Services manages the Youth Music Initiative programme within the Borders. For more information visit www.creativescotland.com

New YMI Lesson Feedback Form

We have a new online feedback form, made using Microsoft FORMS software. It will allows us to collect and use the responses more effectively and it can even be completed on a tablet or smartphone. Use the following link to complete the form.

Every year we need to report back to Creative Scotland, our funders and the schools feedback is a vital part of this . The annual report relies on all the local authorities feedback and helps to inform the Governments decision on funding the YMI Formula programme each year.  We have written about last years national YMI report in this post.
