Online Language Assessment

Overall I didn’t do as well as I expected to do with the OLA. I think its definitely allowed me to identify the ares that I need to work on before placement. I did always have to work very hard in school especially with my English because I’m dyslexic. I left school almost four years ago now which means its been almost five years since I’ve done any ‘official’ English so it it understandable that I’m not on top form.

For my next steps I’m going to read more about teaching literacy in schools then build on my own knowledge and understanding. The issue I have is that it wasn’t just one area that went badly and impacted my whole score. I done below average in everything which resulted in my bad score overall. I think it was a little disheartening because I always thought I was better at English than maths and I done much better in the NOMA. I think all that is important at this stage is the I take something from it and work on it. I may also speak to the help centre in the library and get some advice on what I could do to improve my own literacy.
