Begin with learners’ understanding

Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction states that learning should begin with a daily review of prior learning as this can strengthen the connections of the material previously learned. This might be vocabulary, processes or concepts. By revisiting them, educators can correct misonceptions or have them recalled and the learners primed for that day’s learning.
