Although it is important to identify where we are now, it is not enough to stop there. We need to reflect upon how we can develop the skills where we are less confident and how we can transfer the skills in which we are confident and competent.

Activity 2

Team work I intend on making the most out of working as a team throughout the time on this course. In order to share similar ideas with peers and gain support or spark up new ideas that i can then utilize later in my career.  I was continuously working as part of a group when i last studied in the discipline of Dance. I enjoyed the support it offered and the constant spark for discussion concerning my ideas. I quickly became very comfortable with this way of working.
Listen to others Very much like team work I  will make a conscious effort to listen to every member in my course that i have the opportunity to work with. Not only out of respect but to become more open minded concerning topics and too see a bigger picture at all times. This has become apparent even at this early stage of the course when peers are expressing their opinions during lectures. I am haring points being mentioned that i had never even considered before so it is opening up my learning horizons.
Flexibility  I am going to have to be very flexible when it comes to my learning this year. Due to the different modules we cover on the course. I will make sure i split my time equally between them all so that i can progress through them and reach my full potential.  I found that at Secondary School having different subjects for short periods of time was more beneficial for myself. My concentration was more focused and therefore i was able to stay motivated to achieve the end results which at the time was to pass the exams.
Organise and plan  I am a very visual person so i am going to stay on top of the coursework and learning this year by making lists and regularly typing up my notes which will embed the learning points more in my head. By taking time each day to prepare my plan of action for the following day this should keep me on track with the workload.  During the exam period at school i spent almost as much time making revision charts and detailed essay plans than the actual revision itself. It was almost a reassurance and peace of mind to keep me on track and meant the task on hand flew steady.

Self confidence  I am going to make sure i stay positive throughout the year concerning  my ability to complete tasks and develop in my learning. I will keep a note of my online assessment results so that i can see any progress made which will give me a boost if needed at any point. I will also make sure i spend extra time on the areas where i feel i am weaker at so in return they then become my strengths.  At secondary school i had a great fear of maths however just by completing past papers regularly alongside help by my tutor i was able to compare my results everytime and nine times out of ten there was improvements made. This acted as a great moral boost and kept my motivated to complete the year and gain a qualification. Maths in turn then became one of my favourite subjects.
Be creative  I tend to stay in my comfort zone with a lot of things. One of these being ICT, this year i am going to make a conscious effort to become more creative by developing on my ICT skills. By using eportfolio weekly this helps me enter the world of blogging and store my thought processes regarding lectures all online which i have never done before.  This was made aware during my time at school where i would always chose the conventional way of completing tasks. I would shy away from doing presentations on the smart board and i would rather have a hard copy of the book rather than look up research for projects online.
Problem Solve  As mentioned above i tend to try and play it safe so that i am never properly out of my comfort zone. Having been out of Education for a few years now I find maths a daunting subject again. I intend to get over this hurdle by ensuring i complete the online maths assessment weekly. This feeling towards the subject was brought about after my first attempt of the online assessment. I found some of the questions a bit confusing just by the wording alone, by being out of practice for a matter of years goes to show that it is an area where i am going to have to commit more time to.
