Monday morning news

Wow!  Monday again and it’s looking like being a sunny morning.  This week in nursery we have a busy time planned.  We have new visitors to our pond – newts!  We will hopefully catch sight of a few this week and find out a bit about them.

We have a fabulous new mud kitchen taking shape thanks to Lynn and Gavin (our lovely site co-ordinator).  The cooker is being fitted some time this week and we are looking forward to making some lovely muddy delights later in the week.

At the weekend Anne, Sean and Stewart finished the orchard polytunnel – a huge amount of work!  We will be planting in it this week – salad veg, pumpkins and beans!  Anne and I also went to Dobbies and bought an amazing amount of tools and herb plants.  The herb plants are for the front of the nursery and we have 60 which we are hoping the school will help us plant in a couple of weeks.  In the meantime we are going to look at all the different plants,  smell them and vote for our favourite herb!

Orange and Blue groups are our gym groups on Tuesday morning and on Friday we are looking forward to a visit from Susan and her Snappy Sounds music workshop.  I wonder what Mr Snappy will have in his backpack for us this week?

On Thursday staff are receiving training on new online Learning Journals which we are going to trial with some of our children in the next few months.  I’m at a course on Staff/Child interaction on Thursday afternoon.

Our home corner is a farm kitchen just now and there is a lot of spring cleaning going on.  We are hoping to revamp the lookout post this week and have been learning about farm animals and doing lots of farm artwork. Watch out for a farmyard transformation!

If you haven’t returned your trip slip yet, please, please let us have it this week.  We don’t need the money yet but we do need to know how many children and parents are coming so that we can book the right amount of buses. Thank you!

Happy Monday!
