Planting Sunflower Seeds

This morning was beautiful and Maureen and Julie thought it was perfect planting weather.  We are planting sunflower seeds to grow into wee plants which we can take home to grow in our own gardens over the summertime.  While we were planting we talked about what would grow first.  Maureen had dug up a daffodil bulb to show us the roots, and explained that roots were the part of the plant which sucked up the water and food from the soil to make the plant grow.  We are going to germinate the seeds inside and then harden them off in the garden before sending them home after the holidays.
