Why twitter is evil and blogs are good

Title an exaggeration I use twitter, but

Twitter is an easy to use and popular tool. I use it myself. But: It is a commercial operation with obligations to shareholders. My pupils can’t post to it (without breaking the law). I don’t control it. I can’t, easily, move my content elsewhere. Although I post to our school account I wonder if we should be encouraging our pupils to use it without some discussion…

When you post something on the web, it should belong to you, not a corporation.

You can post anything you want, in any format you want, with no one monitoring you. In addition, you share simple readable links such as example.com/ideas. These links are permanent and will always work.
