Week Eleven.

Music

In todays session we looked at the basics of playing the ukulele. We learned a number of chords such as C, A minor, G and F.  These chords were useful to know as they are the basis to most modern pop songs.

Knowing the four chords means that the children can learn songs that are relevant to them and that they actually enjoy, most likely increasing their engagement and retention of knowledge. We also learned various strumming patterns such as a finger strum or a country style strum. I feel as though I could teach ukulele sufficiently enough to children that it would meet the following CFE outcome:

“I can use my voice, musical instruments and music technology to discover and enjoy playing with sound, rhythm, pitch and dynamics.”

EXA 1-17a

As ukulele’s are becoming increasingly popular in primary schools due to their low price and cleanliness- there is no need to sanitise any mouth pieces as on an instrument such as a recorder.

DRAMA

Today was another session of micro teaching, further consolidating or knowledge of drama conventions and how we could implement them in the class and at various ages and stages. *SEE WEEK 8 FOR FURTHER DETAILS ON MICRO TEACHING AND ITS USEFULNESS*
