Key points from Amanda: Encourage employment of young people; Provide meaningful work experience – help business to create these. Make things sustainable; Change perceptions and minds – be brave. Challenge: Knowing what you know now, what would you do if you were a young person seeking a career today?
Points raise by James: Build on existing practice; Start building momentum; understand the landscape of employment for young people; Work Placement Toolkit: Collaborative, across local authorities, non-threatening, shared resources to make things happen. This delivered successful.
The challenge: What are the things that the private and public sector can deliver collectively? What are they good at? What can they/we all learn from each other?
Points coming from table 15: We need to challenge parents perceptions of career education. Young people have to be empowered earlier (eg. P6 career fair). Inspire young people to pursue their ambitions/dreams.
