Aspiring young Scottish musicians are being urged to register for a new two-day event at The Arches, Glasgow this summer, which will give them the opportunity to perform for leading industry experts and gain a unique insight into how to get ahead in the music business. The ENTHUSE Partnership Awards are a grant of £12,000 for groups of between four and eight primary schools wishing to work together to address local issues of underachievement in science/STEM subjects. The ENTHUSE Partnership Award aims to support collaborative activities over two years to develop and strengthen local partnerships which can subsequently continue independently. New schools wishing to apply to become an ENTHUSE Partnership, which will commence in September 2015
Another event in the SLF Extra series took place on Tuesday 24th March 2015. This was a partnership event between Education Scotland, AHDS and SCEL. Place, Work, Folk is a 13 month Heritage Lottery Funded project developed by Planning Aid Scotland. The project has examined how the experience of older people who have been active in their communities can be shared with the next generation. The aim has been for young people to cultivate interest and inspiration to become ‘active citizens’ working for a sustainable community and engaging with the cultural heritage of their region.

Following the publication of its 3-18 Curriculum Impact Report for Sciences in September 2012, Education Scotland organised a series of conversation days where priorities for action to secure improvements in science education nationally were identified.
