Assessment is vital to planning of learning and teaching. In Bower Primary School, we use a variety of assessment approaches to allow learners to demonstrate knowledge in their significant aspects of learning.
We are currently developing an assessment framework that supports gathering diagnostic information to inform next steps in teaching and learning.
High Quality Assessments (HQA) are created each term. Formative strategies such as self and peer assessment also provide
information.
Achievement of a level
Professional dialogue occurs on a daily basis in our school and our teaching team meet on a termly basis with the Head Teacher to track learner progress and monitor attainment. Benchmarks play a key role along with our observations and evidence to make judgements around achievement of a level.
Moderation plays a key role. We meet with cluster colleagues to review our practice specific to the learning, teaching and assessment (Moderation) cycle.
Pupil Voice
Learners are involved in the assessment of learning, giving them an active voice and role in decision making and setting of next steps.
Reporting to parents
Our families are always welcome to meet and discuss issues with our Teaching Team. In November and March, there are opportunities for parents/ carers to meet with Class Teachers at parents appointments. HQAs are shared on a termly basis through our digital platform, Seesaw.
