During our lecture we focused on placement and the significant angles we should be looking at when out during out practice. Throughout the day we participated in two seminars; visual arts and dance. These created links between each other that consisted of line and linear as well as dance and print. These link as there needs to be a linear structure through a dance routine as well as through art work whether that being painting a picture or sketching a portrait.

When we are out practicing we need to read the classroom from an art angle point of you. Knowing whether the art lesson is pupil-led or teacher-led. During a literacy or numeracy lesson this would be teacher-led due to the knowledge and prior learning of the children, but due to art being a wide area this allows children to take lead and do what they feel pleased through their art work.  As teachers, we should not let all the children go the same destination at the same time. If we do this then we are producing little learning and that is not out goals are teachers. Our class needs to have the opportunity to have personal choice in their work.

There is no governmental restraint on Scotlands CFE for art. In England and other countries Art is a very teacher-led subject but in Scotland we allow our children to have the freedom of creativity and to create what they see fit through their imagination.

Bob and Roberta Smith portrayed significant messages throughout their art work, they symbolised campaigns and created messages that was pleasing to the public eye. These messages varied from politics to the importance of art and why it is significant in our individual lives.

When my partner and I was completing our campaign, we focussed on the colours and why these were important. We came to the conclusion that if it wasn’t bright and eye catching nobody would looks at it and pay attention to the message that we came across. Through this discussion we created a campaign that states “YOU ARE ART” this symbolised uniqueness and the fact that art is meant to be individual and different just like we are through our looks and personality. We created this through the effect of print work (See picture below).

After this we participated in our first dance seminar which was very exciting. We played warm up games and we learned everyones names. These games that we participated in the seminar we could convey into classes and do this as a link to mathematics or literacy. After this we participated in learning the 10 basic moves to teach dance in a school setting. Confidence within teachers who are trying to do a lesson with dance in can be very scary and worrying. With these ten basic moves this should allow them to grow their confidence to then teacher their class. These ten moves were; Balance, Gesture, Hop, Jump, Kick, Reach, Roll, Slide, Turn and finally Twist. In our group we made up simple but effective moves for these that we could then portray into the class.

(Due to technical difficulties our group only has pictures of our moves but next week we will redo it and I will add the video onto the end of my blog.)
