The National Creative Learning Network (NCLN)

The NCLN is a community of practice which has a leadership role in championing and advocating creativity in both formal and informal learning contexts, delivering on the aim of the CLN Fund, which is:

–                To develop new and existing CLNs, to champion the arts, culture and creativity in schools and communities within the overarching context of CfE and for the long-term benefits to children and young people.

The aims of the NCLN are:

–                To develop a shared language and understanding around creativity;

–                To continue to cultivate creativity as a cross-cutting theme across Curriculum for Excellence;

–                To position the CLNs across Scotland within a local strategic context;

–                To raise levels and standards of creativity in learning and teaching in both formal and community learning contexts;

–                To provide leadership on national priorities in creativity in learning

for local and national partners;

–                To stimulate creativity in our children and young people.

The NCLN consists of the group of coordinators leading the CLN for each local authority. The group meets for two national network meetings each year and additional networking and training events take place across Scotland. This proactive core group feeds back to colleagues following national meetings and encourages local authority colleagues and CLN participants to engage in national initiatives and partnerships. We aim to have two nominated contacts per authority who have strategic influence within the local authority and responsibility for delivering CLN activity.
