After a well deserved Easter break P4 had an exciting first week back as we had a visit from Donald, a zoologist, who delivered a fantastic workshop on Scottish wildlife.

He had all sorts of materials for the children to explore, including animal furs, skulls and feathers. These facilitated some fantastic discussions around what animals they came from and their evolutionary traits. 

P4a Maths open afternoon
The children had a lovely afternoon showing off their maths and numeracy skills at the maths open afternoon on Friday. They rotated round 6 different games that focused on the concepts they have learned so far this year.   Continue reading →

As part of Scottish week in P4a we were reading Neeps and Tatties by Carey Morning.
We worked together to translate Scots words from the book into English. We also built Scottish landmarks in the playroom, created our own versions of Scottish comics, played body percussion to keep the beat to some Scottish music and used Charles Rennie Mackintosh as some inspiration for art.

Last week we started our new topic Oceans.
The children enjoyed using the STEM straws in the playroom where they were set the task of designing and building a boat.
