Primary 3b have settled back into class and have been working hard. We have enjoyed using metre sticks and rulers to measure the perimeter of shapes around and outside the classroom. We have also begun to think about expanding our range of numbers and using different strategies when calculating equations in numeracy. We have started our new session in the gym hall, beginning to measure our improving fitness levels and embarking on circuit training activities. We have been using clues from text to make predictions about what might happen in the story. We have also written some familiar stories from a different perspective. We have had a little introduction to our new topic of Castles. We are looking forward to finding more out about this as the weeks pass. In PATHS, we have been considering the importance of good manners. We will be looking over the next few weeks at dictionary skills and have been looking at alphabetical order in preparation for that. We have also enjoyed using pointillism techniques in our art session this week. We are looking forward to an exciting and productive final term.

Primary 3b
Primary 3 have been working hard this week.
We have been measuring in both centimetres and metres in maths lessons. We have also been using arrays and grouping to calculate multiplication equations.
We have looked at the bones in a human skeleton and labelled them. We also drew an eye, focussing on shading in our art lesson. They all turned out really well.
We have been continuing with our PATHS lessons and are beginning to practice using our calming down strategies when feelings are strong.
As a class we have identified that we are not great at listening. So we will be focussing on listening skills. We have already established what a good listener looks like and will be putting that into practice next week.
P3b
P3b have been practicing the 3 steps to calm down in class this week. This will help them be able to feel more in control when they have strong feelings, such as being angry or upset.
In Numeracy and Mathematics, they have been calculating multiplication using arrays and using rulers to measure objects they found in the classroom.
They have been using senses to describe a setting and have been thinking about the human body, particularly the skeleton. They have been thinking about the functions of different bones found within the skeleton.
P3b
This week we have been focussing on measure during our maths lessons this week. We have learned how to use a ruler correctly and to measure different items in centimetres.
We have been reading about a baby Barn Owl called Plop, in the book The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark. We have visualised his home from the description and drawn what we think it looks like. We also created a piece of art from the story using two different types of mediums and two different art techniques. We used oil pastels and paint, to create a picture which had used both the skills of drawing and printing.
We have also looked at the 3 steps for calming down this week in our HWB lessons. We will be using this technique to improve how we deal with upsets.
We have continued our active play this week. The children have really enjoyed our active play sessions and they are becoming more and more creative in their play, as well as being more able to join in with staff led games.
