JRSO signing off for June 2025

Firstly we enjoyed being a JRSO because we went to the city chambers to edit videos of our work and made a full video out of our photographs and videos. It was fun to make!
Then we went to ASDA this year. We were handing out bags to people walking in and out the store about road safety. We earned flashlights because we handed them all out in under half an hour!We then started walking back and when we got back everyone started asking us about it.  It was good to be part of the Wallacewell JRSO team!
Also we have did something called travel tracker which if you walked, cycled, scootered or park and stride so if you did those  once a week you could earn a badge from us . This was to help people think about walking to school .
In conclusion we loved being a JRSO and we will miss it .

Happy Times

I just want to say that it has been a privilege to be a teacher at Wallacewell Primary School. The children have always contributed daily to my learning journey throughout my career. It is now time for me to retire and spent more time at my fitness classes!
THANK YOU ALL.

This week P5b completed their books on book creator. Everyone enjoyed being an author and illustrator. It was unanimous that reading their book to a P4 pupil was enjoyable and rewarding.

We practised activities in P.E. For sports’ day next week. As usual our time in the Creativity Room was extremely productive and rewarding. Some people were able to make a kite that would fly. Children tested their kite outside and made a video of  the results!

This week we did maths I thought it was very fun! We did frequency. Then we went outside with chalk and we drew bar charts it was about favourite colours which include blue green purple red and pink. We did it with our working buddies.           Next in writing we did explanation writing about plastic pollution and to reduce, reuse and recycle the plastic to help sea creatures so that they don’t choke on the plastic.
Afterwards we did reciprocal reading in groups we are reading islands of the Pacific Ocean the book is quite cool and the other group reads far from the city they say it is a great book! Then everyone gets a job for reading. There is a leader, clarifiers questioners, summarisers and predictors as well we do them after reading the book.

This week in STEM we made plant pots and bird feeders from plastic bottles and boxes for sustainability and we enjoyed it a lot .
Also we wrote an explanation piece of writing about sports like football ,basketball and gymnastics.  We both thought that our writing was good.
Next in PE  we practised throwing and hitting balls with rackets to do hits like over head, side hit and under arm hit.
Then we did maths multiply and division. It was quite easy  and fun to learn new ways to answer questions.   This was problem solving.
Finally we put flowers in pots for our sustainability lesson and it was nice because it was something new to do.

Glasgow 850 years!

Primary 5B had a great time today making up modern day poems based around the Wee Malkies. Their ideas were good.

Then everyone made their pictures about Glasgow, followed by jellie pieces and a drink in the sun. 🌞     Mrs. Jodah

On Tuesday we finished our target of term 4 sheet then we did reading tasks. After lunch we had Miss Kelly for P.E and we practiced our throwing, hitting and catching so we could be better at rounders. Next we got paper and wrote red , blue , yellow, white and yellow and we had to find things in the playground that was that colour.

On Wednesday a deer got in our playground so we had to go in the lunch hall. We started with the 4x table so we had it ready for division. After we did maths and that’s why we needed the 4x table next to us and 20x . We started our plan for sustainability for schools. Then we had P.E and we did a lot of running games.

On Thursday we started off with spelling for our spelling test on Friday. After we did maths about division again. Then we started our sustainability writing about and it felt like it took forever. We did have stem and there was Lego, stories and making your own garden and it was very fun.

On Friday we practiced our spelling  strategy which was say write check it rub it . Then we did our actual spelling test. Then we wrote a Scottish poem and it was really funny. At lunch we actually had ice cream. There was music out side when it was lunchtime. Now we are making a picture to show important things about Glasgow. Later we are going to make jelly sandwiches !

A busy week in P5b

This week we have continued our revision of number work. I am very pleased with the progress. In writing ✍️ the class have been developing their skills , writing an explanation about planting sunflowers. 🌻Next week we will write about improving sustainability in a school. The children are very enthusiastic about this topic and have helped me plan some excellent activities.

Through our stem and IDL topic we have been learning about our local environment and the positive things we can do to improve our outdoor environment and learn about sustainability.🌱🐦‍⬛🐞🪵🌳
