The English department and a group of dedicated young people in our Literature Ambassadors group have been working diligently towards the Scottish Book Trust’s Reading Schools Award. We are currently a Silver Reading School!

This means:

• Each member of staff is encouraged to share what they are reading through posters outside of classrooms and in their email signature.
• Young people act as Reading Role-Models by wearing “Ask Me What I’m Reading” badges (that they made themselves)!
• Young people in the Literature Ambassadors group carry out paired reading sessions with S1 pupils.
• The English department and the library work together to diversify and build a curriculum that reflects the lives and interests of our young people

We are working hard towards the Gold award at the moment. Watch this space!
