Two Amazing Days of Learning!

We have been learning about bar graphs!

P2/3 created their very own bar graph.

“I know that the numbers go up the y axes” – Danial.

We were able to create our own bar graph based on our favourite birds! Children were be able to answer questions about the most and least popular bird.

NUMBER TALKS

“I enjoyed number talks” Haania.

We are continuing our number talks and are enjoying looking at the different strategies we all have in P2/3 when working out the same problems!

LENT

We have been learning about lent – Eshal.

“We learned that Jesus sacrificed food for 40 days” -Danial

We spoke about our own ideas of what we would give up if we had to. Lots of children were giving up fizzy drinks and sweets. We decided we could be healthy instead.

“I would go into town and give all of my money from the piggy bank to the homeless” – a beautiful answer from Hikmah

This conversation led us to speak about charities like ‘Marys Meals” and we learned about the global goals.

We spoke about goals 1 and 2 and how we could help children who are in poverty and give money to charities like Mary’s Meals to help stop hunger!

“We could give everyone  food” – lovely idea Omar!

We learned how to write Instructions! – Haania/Layth

We wrote lots of amazing instructions on how to make the 3 course dinner chewing gum! Check out our cool wall display!

Storytelling week!

We have had lots of fun this week reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

We have also had opportunities to create our own chocolate factories. What an imagination this class has!

We have had some incredible writing this week. Overwhelmed by how well P2/3 have come on with their writing!

We are becoming independent in our self-assessment. We can use a checklist to make sure our work is correct.

We have been working on punctuation.

We love using question marks for asking sentences, full stops for telling sentences and exclamation marks exciting sentences.

And we can’t forget to mention this wonderful boy Omar.

He has blossomed into a young writer this week and has been working so hard on story writing. He has shown so much confidence with his independent writing. Well done Omar keep it up!

Numeracy

We love number talks !

We have a new exciting mental maths conversations with one another with new hand gestures to show that we have and answers and strategies and if we agree or need more explanation from one another. This has been a great way to show that we can complete different maths problems in different ways and building a very inclusive environment where everyone feels valued when sharing different strategies.

This is what different children saw when we looked at a range of dots. We have so many different strategies in P2/3!!

Hope you all have a lovely February break.

A Very Artsy Week in P2/3 !

We were invited along to the Tramway and expierienced what it was like to visit a real exhibition. We discussed the art work and we even filmed some scenes for a movie which will we made for the exhibition.

We we’re lucky enough to have two days of fun filled art as we had a visit to our class from the tramway and we made our own pieces of art work which will be displayed at the exhibiton.

  1.  Dirko was given the opportunity to film some of the scenes! Well done Dirko!

Music

We have stepped it up a notch now in music and we are beginning to write our own music! Maybe we will have some future composers this class!

We have been engaging in lots of mindful colouring this week and Eshal has some inspirational quotes she would like to share with everyone!

And we can’t forget to celebrate our achievements this week! Some of us have now mastered the shopkeeper strategy and have been working hard on times tables! 😊 others know all of the tricky words! And some of us have produced incredible writing ! So poud 💚

P2/3 snowing off their learning this week! :)

Brrrr, its been a cold week! But that hasn’t stopped all of the hard work P2/3 have been doing.

Literacy

In literacy this week,  we have been learning about alphabetical order to the third letter. This has allowed us to become more confident when using a dictionary. We have been able to search for words relating to our topic and find the definition.

P2 have been learning about verbs. We know that a verb is a “doing word”. We were able to come up with our own verbs and use them in a sentence. We have also been learning about past present and future tense verbs.

P3 were learning about 2 adjectives describing a noun. This has allowed us to up-level our writing and create much more descriptive and imaginative writing.

Talking and Listening

We love show and tell Fridays!!

I have never been more proud of the ever growing confidence children have in P2/3. From solo talks, to singing, performing and dancing. This class are full of secret talents!

Eshal spoke confidently to the class about her betty spaghetti dolls she recieved.

Malaika and Omar sang a beautiful duet of “I believe I can Fly” ❤️

We had a beautiful song from Haania, Malaika and Eshal !

And what an incredible effort Hasan made for his performance. Idris made his own electric guitar at home and Hasan brought in the costumes and the cake. Blown away by all of the talent we have in this classroom!

And it doesnt stop there!!

Hannia wrote music and performed a spectacular piece with Adam in the open area!

Digital Literacy

We have been developing our research skills in the classroom. We have in the past been able to research books and now we are learning how to research online to find information using the iPads.

Children worked in groups to research information about the British Robin. We were able to record our findings.

What a week filled with learning lots of new skills!

And of course we had lots of fun in the snow!!

Term 3 First Week Back.

We are excited to do lots of work surrounding this story and we cannot wait to tell you more about it.

Love P2/3 xx

P2/3 won the Turner Prize !!!

Seas The Day!!

Here are some fabulous photos from our art exhibition!!

We have been learning about climate change and the cause of rising water levels. P2/3 created some coastal cities in danger of sinking and we sank them under water using magic sand and plastercine. We filmed our expierience on the ipads and created an under water movie to send out a strong message and highlight the danger some cities face is we do not make changes soon.

The children in p2/3 were able to speak about their learning so confidently and this is one of the reasons we were chosen!

Super proud ❤️

We hope you enjoy our movie trailer and movie😊🎬

  • Unfortunately, these may only be available to view on a mobile device or ipad *

The judges, teachers and parents were all invited along to our underwater Ocean Cinema to watch the premier of our movie “Seas the Day”.

Behind the Seanes ….

This is just one of our animations we created using stop motion on the iPad. We created our own fish characters and made backdrops of  cities underwater as we wanted to explore what it would be like if the cities did sink. We had all our fish  swimming around the cities and if you look closely you may notice there is a huge whale swimming around in the background of Barcelona. Imagine!!!

Even P2/3’s classroom turned into an underwater cinema and the children turned into fish!!!

We created the cities and used magic sand, shells and water to make them look like they were under the ocean.
Children used the iPads to video this in slo-motion to create our movie.

Barcelona is underwater!

Sydeny Opera House and cape town are underwater!!

Dublin is Underwater!!

P2/3 have worked so hard this term and now its time for a well deserved Christmas break. Well done everyone!

See you next term!
