Our Brilliant Learning!

Over the past 2 weeks we have been very busy learning and having fun. Here are some of the things that we liked the best…

We have learned about Robert Burns. He is very famous because he wrote poems. (Nimrah and Kasim)

We have been learning about Migration: when animals or people move from one country to another country. (Sanjog)

We have been learning how to do a Scottish dance! (Minal and Aisha H)

We have learned about the Scottish fabric design called tartan. We designed our own tartan. (Zainab, Quasim and Hamza)

We have learned to add numbers with cubes. (Fatima)

We have been learning about money. We learned that there is no 3p, 6p or 4p coins. (Tayiba)

We have been learning to count on and back from 100 in 1s 5s and 10s. (Sarim and Zaid)

We have been learning about “Shopkeeper.” You use this when you give to much money and you need to get change. (Talha)

We have been learning about Arctic animals. Polar bears like to live in snow where it is cold.  If it gets too warm animals migrate to somewhere colder. (Eesa)

I learned that Robert Burns died when he was 37. He lived in Scotland and every year we celebrate his Birthday. (Sofia)

We have been learning how to read and I got better at reading out loud. (Mahrosh)

We have been learning more about writing stories and spelling tricky words. (Aiman and Adyan)

We have been learning about tens and units eg. 3 tens and 2 units is number 32. (Kamran and Sanjog)

We have been learning to play football. We were learning how to dribble the ball. (Jasim and Eesa)

We were learning how to write sentences with joining words. eg. My balloon went up in the sky and it popped in the air. (Sarim)

I have been learning to do adding sums with some cubes and some coins. (Nimrah)

I am learning about numbers up to 20 (Fatima)

We have been learning about how to add bigger numbers. So first you add the 10s and then you add the units. For example 25+24=49. (Hamza)

We have been practising our spelling words. We have been writing them in our jotters, in the sand box and we have been painting them. (Eesa)

 

What we would like to learn next:

I would like to learn more Scottish dancing. (Kasim)

I would like to do more music in school, like learn to play the piano. (Aisha Hanif)

I would like to learn more about Robert Burns. (Aisha Afzal and Sofia)

I would like to do more “Shopkeeper” to help me work out change. (Tayiba)

I want to learn to do neater handwriting. (Aiman)

I want to learn more about Migration. (Sanjog and Sarim)

I would like to learn how to read. (Talha)

Teacher: Talha if you learn to read what would you use reading for?

Talha: I would be able to do homework by myself… If I practise. (Talha)

Happy New Year!

P2 boys and girls enjoyed relaxing and having fun over the holidays but we are all happy to be back in school. We have been doing lots of work and learning already!

I have been learning how to do neat handwriting. (Kasim)

I have been learning about change. (Hashim)

I have been learning about money. (Quasim)

I have been learning odd and even numbers. (Zaid)

I have been learning about Magic e. (Aiman)

I have been learning that if you give the shopkeeper too much money, they have to give you money back. This is called change. (Faiqah)

I have learned to use empty number lines to add and take away money.  (Sarim)

We have set ourselves some new year’s resolutions and some targets for our learning also. We are looking forward to the term ahead.

Willie Baronet’s Signs of the Time

Primary 2 have been learning about homelessness. We have learned about our Rights and explored which Rights homeless people are accessing. Primary 2 children feel that being homeless is terrible and want to raise awareness of this worldwide issue through our art project. Please come along to hear our message!

We learned more about telling the time on an analogue clock face. (Kamran)

Our last week of Term 1!

We have reached the end of Term 1 in Primary 2. So far we have had lots of fun. We have enjoyed playing with new friends and old friends. We love our school and our new class. We have also learned a lot this term.

We have learned about tens and units. (Sarim)

We have had so much fun learning outside. (Nimrah)

We have learned how to do adding sums. (Fatima)

We have been learning to count up and down in 10s. (Adyan)

We have been learning how to do take away sums. (Kamran)

We have learned that the big hand on a clock tells us if it is O’clock, and the small hand tells us the hour. (Quasim)

We have learned how to be kind and respectful to each other. (Hamza)

We have learned how to read books. (Tayiba and Fatima)

We have learned so much more than this, but now need to stop for our party!
