It has been another busy week in P7B! Here is a little look at what we have been learning.
In numeracy, we have been developing our understanding of decimals. We practised partitioning decimals, comparing and ordering them, and adding and subtracting decimal numbers. We have been working hard to explain our thinking and challenge ourselves!
In writing, we explored similes and metaphors to make our writing more descriptive and exciting. We then took part in different writing stations, collecting ambitious vocabulary to build our own word banks. We will use these words next week to write our own haunted house stories! Our writing genre this term is narrative, with a particular focus on describing settings and helping our readers imagine the places in our stories.
In reading, we moved on to our new reading books! We explored different before reading strategies, investigated unfamiliar vocabulary and tackled a variety of comprehension questions. We are continuing to develop our skills in understanding texts and thinking more deeply about what we read.
We also began our new IDL topic on the Amazon Rainforest and Brazil! We started by looking at a range of pictures and using our detective skills to work out what they showed and how they were connected. We are excited to discover more about this fascinating part of the world and investigate the questions we have about it.
We are very excited for our Divided City bus trip next week! We will be making connections between our class novel and the world around us, bringing our learning to life.
If you have any old newspapers at home, we would really appreciate donations for our upcoming STEM projects. Please send them in with your child if you have any spare. Thank you for your support!
Have a lovely weekend, everyone!
