P6A Learning Highlights This Week 📐📊✏️
This week, P6A have been busy developing their skills across numeracy and literacy, showing great focus, curiosity and creativity in their learning.
In numeracy, we have been learning all about angles and how to measure them accurately using protractors. Pupils practised identifying acute, right, obtuse and reflex angles before applying their skills to real-life problems and diagrams. There was lots of careful measuring, checking and discussing strategies to make sure results were accurate. It was great to see pupils supporting one another and growing in confidence with this tricky skill.
We have also been working on interpreting data and graphs. Pupils analysed different types of graphs, including bar charts and line graphs, learning how to read scales, compare values and explain what the data shows. They were challenged to answer reasoning questions and explain patterns and trends using mathematical language.
In literacy, our focus has been on descriptive writing. Pupils explored how writers use their five senses to create vivid pictures for the reader. Through short writing lessons and modelled examples, pupils practised using sensory language to describe settings and experiences in more detail. There was a strong emphasis on choosing powerful vocabulary and showing, rather than telling, what is happening in a scene.
Overall, P6A have worked hard, shown great engagement and continued to develop important skills that will support them across the curriculum. Well done to everyone for another productive and positive week of learning! 👏
