World Book Week
This week we celebrated World Book Week with a special whole-school assembly where a pupil from each class shared a piece of reading.
Literacy
In literacy, we have been learning how to use commas in a list. In our writing lessons, we are focusing on character descriptions and using descriptive language. Last week we described Little Red Riding Hood, and this week we explored the character of Miss Honey from Roald Dahl’s Matilda.
Maths
In maths, we continued to practise using different combinations of coins to make the same value. We also used arrays to help us solve division calculations and deepen our understanding of the concept.
Science & Technology
This week we learned about non-renewable energy sources and how they will soon run out and are damaging our planet. We also created our own stop-motion movies, which we shared with the class. Finally, we designed and drew our own characters, then brought them to life using a digital animation app.
Other
Our sports leaders have returned for their second block of sessions, and we enjoyed starting the week with a fun and active PE lesson led by them. Finally we had a Commonwealth Games assembly where we me the new mascot ‘Finnie’ .
