P3a Weekly Update

This week, we were excited to begin our new topic on Rainforests, and we are really looking forward to learning all about them.

Literacy

In Literacy, we read the first chapter of our class novel The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark. We used the text to create a visualisation of the setting through detailed drawings. We also focused on using more ambitious adjectives in our work and completed our final piece of persuasive writing.

Maths

In Maths, we finished our fractions topic by identifying and showing mixed number fractions, which include both wholes and parts. We then started our new measuring topic by learning about length. We discussed which units of measure would be most appropriate for different objects depending on their size.

Other Learning

As part of our topic work, we have began The Rainforest. We began by sharing what we already knew, then learned what rainforests are and where they can be found around the world.
