Weekly update from P1A

What a wonderful final week of Term 1 in P1A!

This week, our class focused on the new sound’s ‘c’ and ‘k’. The children have been working incredibly hard to spot and use these sounds during our reading and writing activities. We also explored rhyme through stories and through a variety of hands-on activities such as matching rhyming words and creating a rhyme string.  In writing this week we drew and described the humongous giant from Jack and the Beanstalk.
In numeracy, we spent time exploring partitioning, learning how to break numbers down into smaller parts to better understand their value. We also practiced our time-telling skills by focusing on telling the time to the hour on both analogue and digital clocks. Finally, we started exploring how to copy and create our own patterns using different shapes and colours. The children have shown fantastic enthusiasm for their learning, and we cannot wait to see how they apply these new skills!
In art, we embraced the beautiful autumn season by heading outside to collect a vibrant variety of leaves! We explored leaf rubbing using colourful chalk pastels. The children did a fantastic job capturing all the natural textures in their artwork.
Our Playroom has been filled with magic as we dived into our Enchanted Forest topic! 🌳✨The children have absolutely loved exploring classic fairy tales and bringing their favourite characters to life through puppet roleplay.
Huge congratulations to P1A on an incredible first term—we are incredibly proud of the confidence, hard work, and enthusiasm you’ve brought to school every day.
Have a safe and happy holiday—enjoy your well-earned break!
