Primary 1a Wallacewell Primary

This week in P1A!

Wow what short but busy week of learning we’ve had this week! It has been lovely to see so many children becoming more independent and confident at school.
In maths this week, we practised our subitising, counting backwards and took our very first steps into the exciting world of telling the time. We discussed the importance of time in our daily lives, explored the difference between the hour and minute hands and practiced making o’clock times on the clock.
In literacy we have also been super busy hunting down and practicing our new ‘d’ and ‘e’ sounds. The children have enjoyed practising how to say and recognise the sounds. We have also used all of our new sounds to read and make CVC words on our very own letter boards.
We also loved giving our hands a workout to boost our fine motor skills by grooving along to some scarf dancing and playdough disco!
Through the playroom the children have being growing their communication, creativity, and problem-solving skills whilst learning to do things on their own. We love watching them team up, share toys, wait for their turn, and talk about their own creative ideas.
In RME, we travelled back in time to explore the story of Daniel and the Lions’ Den through drama. Working on changing our body and facial expressions to suit the different characters from the story.
Finally, during our PATHS time we’ve been talking all about friendship and putting our skills into practice by remembering that friends always play, help, and share together.
Another fantastic week of learning, growing and teamwork in P1A!
