Welcome to Primary 1a’s class blog! We have had an incredibly busy week filled with active learning, creativity, and exploration. Here is a look at what we have been up to:
We revised our very first six phonics sounds: s, a, t, i, p, and n. The children are doing a fantastic job recognising these sounds and practicing them in class.
We’re Going on a Bear Hunt! Linking beautifully with our new playroom IDL on journeys, we dove into this classic storybook. We created fantastic interactive story maps to retell the adventure. The children even challenged themselves to use their first six sounds within their maps to describe the different noises heard in each setting (like s for the swishy swishy!).
In the playroom, we have been learning all about different types of journeys. We explored food journeys (how food gets to our plates) and transport journeys. We especially loved visiting the bus station and taking trips to lots of wonderful places!
In maths, we have been enjoying exploring our numbers to 10 and subitising. This week we have been mastering our positional language. We had a great time using our peg dolls to practice placing them under, over, next to, and on top of different objects.
In art, we introduced the colour wheel! We learned all about primary and secondary colours, exploring how mixing primary colours together magically creates brand-new secondary ones.
What a great week of learning we have had in primary 1 filled with lots of exploring, playing and creativity⭐️
