WW2 – mini topic

What a fantastic day of immersive learning. The whole class re-enacted what school was like in 1939 at the start of the Second World War. The children made evacuation labels and gas masks then we boarded the ‘train’ as evacuees to our new homes in the countryside.
Such fun and such brilliant learning.

Science with Class 3

Today we learned all about the circulatory system and how the heart works.  The children had a great time exploring three stations where they learned about heart rate, how the pump system works and how to listen to your heart.

Afterwards, the children designed a mechanical heart/lung machine that could replace the heart and lungs to keep a person alive if needed.  These designs were incredible and very well thought out!

Please ensure your child returns any reading books they might have at home and ensure they are regularly swapping their library books to support home reading.

Helping Hands Free Shop

We have been working hard to set up the Helping Hands free shop. The class is worried about the amount of waste going to landfill and are committed to encouraging the community to waste less and share more!

The learning involved in this project has been rich and fully engaging. We have learned how to write persuasively, design digital fliers, run a business, create digital rotas, work collaboratively, sort, manage and maintain stock.
Watch this space for opening times!

This Week’s Learning

In literacy, we have been learning to write a descriptive setting.

In science, we have been learning about different filtration methods.

In our topic, we have been setting up a free shop in school for the community. We have learned how to use digital technology to create fliers, and work rotas. Watch this space for more information!

And finally, our trip to the library for book week. Thanks to all our adult helpers, we couldn’t have gone without you!

Wow, what a week! Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Pattie 😊
