At Knightswood Primary we are committed to ensuring that all young people see themselves, their families and the world around them in what they learn. Through our school values we promote an understanding of their right to be respected for who they are and to appreciate and respect difference in other people.Schools across Scotland are teaching LGBT equality and inclusion from ages three to 18 through Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence.

At Knightswood we are currently working in partnership with TIE (Time for Inclusive Education) to achieve the first part of our LGBT accreditation.

We will soon be welcoming parents to be part of our Equalities Group.

As Scotland’s LGBT Inclusive Education charity, we work with schools across the country to embed LGBT themes (such as history, rights, and equalities) into ordinary teaching and learning.

By displaying the LGBT Charter of Rights, we hope to send a positive message to LGBT people in the Knighstwood Primary community that they are included, valued, supported and will be treated fairly when they access our school service.

Our School Practice

☑️  All our staff are trained in LGBT awareness.
☑️  Our curriculum and Library are LGBT inclusive.
☑️  Our anti-bullying policy sets out our procedures to prevent and
tackle bulling, including homophobic languages and bullying.
☑️  Our school uniform policy makes it clear that pupils can wear
whatever options of school uniform they feel comfortable in.
☑️  Our Equalities Policy sets out how our school  upholds Children’s
Rights and meets the duties set out in the Equality Act (2010).
☑️  Our pupils led a  Film Festival, with a focus on LGBT related
bullying

LGBT Charter

Knightswood Primary embarked on the LGBT Schools Charter programme  in 2021 to help the school focus on the quality of support and curriculum we provide.
