English as an Additional Language (EAL) Support

At King’s Park Secondary, we are committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students, including those who speak English as an additional language. Our Support for Learning Department  offers tailored support to help students with English language needs succeed academically and socially, ensuring they are able to participate fully in school life.
The EAL team provides individualised and small-group support, focusing on building students’ confidence and skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing English. We aim to support students at all stages of their language development, whether they are new to English or looking to refine their language skills.
Our approach includes:
  • Language Support: Helping students improve their English proficiency through tailored lessons and resources.
  • Integration into School Life: Assisting students in understanding and navigating the school’s curriculum, social environment, and cultural expectations.
  • Collaboration with Teachers: Working closely with subject teachers to ensure EAL students are supported across all areas of the curriculum.
  • Community Building: Creating a supportive and inclusive environment where students can connect with peers, build confidence, and engage in extracurricular activities.
Parents and guardians can reach out to the EAL department for additional information or to discuss their child’s progress and support needs. We aim to ensure every EAL student at King’s Park Secondary has the tools they need to thrive.
