Timeline and key dates

June

  • Register with APPLY.
  • Begin completing UCAS application.
  • RESEARCH course choices now and over the summer holiday using www.ucas.com

Early applications:

CUKAS Music application –  for most undergraduate dance, drama or musical theatre courses. Check conservatoire websites for deadlines.

Speak to Music staff in and out of school and begin application process.

Medicine, Vet Medicine, Dentistry – Register for Admissions Tests. See Miss McGugan and begin application process. Also look into applying for REACH/ Top Up (See Miss McGugan).

Oxford and Cambridge application deadlines mid October.

August/September

  • Higher Education Exhibition – attend and research specific university courses.
  • University Open Days – visit universities to research course choices further by speaking to staff, attending lectures and getting the feel of the campus.
  • Many universities are doing virtual open days this session – just log onto the university web sites for information on this
  • Top Up/ REACH Programme – find out about this from Miss McGugan and apply if interested.
  • Careers Interview – arrange to discuss career and course choices, if needed.

September/ October

  • Begin to write Personal Statement – in PSE lesson, 1st draft to Pastoral Care Teacher beginning  of October or earlier.
  • Early deadline applications sent off for – CUKAS, Medicine, Vet Medicine, Dentistry.
  • Hand out references to subject teachers prior to the October holiday.

October/November

  • Redraft Personal Statement with feedback from Pastoral Care Teacher.
  • Complete full application including Personal Statement.
  • Pay and send application to PC teacher for school reference to be added. Deadline early November

November / December

  • Applications checked and sent to UCAS before Xmas.
  • Receive confirmation /receipt of application.

January

  • Track application on line using TRACK
  • Apply for College places as Back Up/Plan B.
