S4 Course Choice

S4 Option Choice Structure

  • English or ESOL and Maths are mandatory.
  • 4 periods a week in English/ESOL and Maths.
  • 5 periods a week per subject in Columns B to E.
  • S4 to S6 can all be in the same class in Columns B to E – focus is on pupils being at the right level/stage as opposed to the same year group.

Can I study a subject in S4 if I haven’t chosen it in S3?

It is always best to continue with subjects you experienced in S3 as you will have a greater depth of knowledge. Following discussion with your Pupil Support Teacher/Depute Head Teacher you may be able to select a subject in S4 if you did not take it in S3, and this would be looked at on an individual basis.
