Cheerleading Team Shines in First Competition!

The King’s Park Cheerleading Team is an exciting new addition to our school, led by the dedicated Miss McKay. Since September, our young athletes have been training hard, learning the skills and discipline required for this dynamic sport.

For many of our team members, cheerleading was completely new. The first few weeks were all about mastering the fundamentals, building strength, and developing teamwork. However, their passion and dedication quickly became evident, inspiring us to enter them into the prestigious Scottish Schools Cheerleading Competition—the largest event of its kind in Scotland!

With months of rigorous training and determination, our team put together an incredible routine. Competing against 11 other schools in their division, they delivered a fantastic performance and secured an impressive 3rd place finish—bringing home a well-earned trophy!

The girls were incredibly proud of their achievement, especially after witnessing the high standard of competition throughout the day. We couldn’t be prouder of their hard work, team spirit, and commitment.

A huge congratulations to our Kings Park Cheerleaders—this is just the beginning of an exciting journey!

Well done to Grace and her partner Summer from East Kilbride Acro Gymasntics Club and good luck for the Scottish Championships in 2 weeks time.

Grease Rehearsals

Rehearsals for our school show are well underway!

Rehearsals take place after school on a Friday until 4.30pm in the assembly hall and new members of the cast are always welcome!

Well done to our amazing cast who are working incredibly hard on their singing, dancing and acting to ensure that the show is a complete success.

Performances will take place on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th June 2025, promising a night of electrifying music, dazzling dance moves, and unforgettable fun.

New Timekeeping Procedures

We are aware of the increasing number of young people arriving late each morning and the impact this has on learning and teaching.

As a result from Monday 24th February we will be introducing late slips.

The doors will be opened to all buildings for 2 minutes either side of 8.50am. If a young person arrives to school out with this time they will report to the school office to be met with a DHT and Pupil Support PT to receive a late slip. Lates will be monitored in order to improve both timekeeping and learning & teaching.

Thank you for your support with this matter.

Construction Aware Programme

Over the last couple of months, 10 of our S3 pupils have been taking part in the Construction Aware programme created by DYW Glasgow in partnership with FARE Scotland, and co-designed with industry leaders such as McTaggart Construction, CCG, and A.C. Whyte.

The pupils visited 7 construction-related organisations and live sites, getting a real feel for the industry from pre- to post-construction! Through hands-on activities, they explored key skills used in the field and heard inspiring career stories from industry professionals.

To top it off, they successfully completed the program and earned an SCQF 3 Work Aware qualification!

A huge well done to everyone involved!

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Strathclyde is delighted to be offering the Scottish Space School programme again in 2025. The programme will run at the University from Monday 9 – Friday 13 June 2025.

On Wednesday this week, our S1 team of Elias MacLean (S1, Skye), Joseph Reilly (S1, Skye) and Jade Bonner (S1, Skye) came second to Holyrood Secondary in the annual Southside quiz.

Pipped by a point, this team showed some really good knowledge to compete after losing a colleague who was not able to attend.

Senior Art & Design Skills Workshops

Miss Joice’s senior class had a very productive double period today experimenting with ink and dying techniques as part of their second National 4 & 5 Skills Workshop for their Design portfolio.

They’ll use these inked papers to cover their white models, which will then become the final piece of their Design folio.

Have a look through our gallery to see some examples of their inking and their incredible white models.

Fantastic work everyone, exciting things are happening!
