We are very excited to offer work experience Placements to senior pupils in S5 and S6 at the end of November. This will be based on the Workit system and will be tailored to suit you career pathway (where possible, pilot may be a stretch!)

Mrs Hill’s S3 pupils recently took part in a lively Build an Atom competition, showcasing their understanding of atomic structure through creative and accurate models. Judged by A Thyne, the event celebrated teamwork, scientific thinking, and a touch of friendly rivalry.

In this week’s KPSS Community Vlog, young people, parents, and staff discuss the importance of attendance and share tips on encouraging young people to attend school as much as possible. We also hear about our Maximising Attainment and Achievement Programme – a programme specifically designed to support young people who for a variety of reasons are unable to attend their timetabled classes. Applications are now open for more than 3,000 volunteers to help bring the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games to life (23 July – 2 August).
Anyone aged 16+ (by 1 Sept 2025) can apply – no experience needed, full training provided. Volunteers will support athletes, welcome spectators, and be at the heart of the action.

This week in Katrine Room, our learners explored 2D shapes, developing their understanding of geometry through hands-on activities. Using a variety of materials, they enhanced their creativity and problem-solving skills while making different shapes.
Our S2 pupil demonstrated leadership and teamwork as team captains in basketball, applying his physical skills and working collaboratively in a fast-paced game.
In Design and Technology, an S3 pupil showed practical skills and creativity by completing a fantastic egg holder project, reflecting the CfE focus on designing, making, and evaluating.
Meanwhile, our S1 students brought energy and enthusiasm to the Friday lunchtime radio skills through music and broadcasting.
Staff from the Royal Navy came in to school on Monday to work with 2M1, 2L and 2S pupils.
Pupils worked on their teamwork, problem solving and engineering skills as they participated in a number of STEM challenges.
We look forward to welcoming them back in to school on the 22nd September to work with 2M2 and 2A pupils.

What a great Day 1 for our S6 Young Driver experience. Almost half of our S6 pupils received a 15 minute driving lesson today from Raymond, Myra or Roberta from Young Driver. We’re looking forward to Day 2 tomorrow where the rest of S6 will get their chance to drive one of the cars on our pitches.
An amazing experience for our senior pupils and we’re so grateful to Young Driver for coming back to us for 2025.
This week, one of our pupils began a placement at the Clay Cafe, attending one day a week for the next seven weeks. They enjoyed making brownies from scratch, using the dishwasher, and helping with customer service by taking orders. Well done!
Two of our pupils have been working on a self-directed LEGO project during lunch and break times. They were excited to proudly showcase their creative LEGO design today.
Another pupil completed a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle over the week during lunch and break times this week—an impressive achievement!
A massive thank you to the Chemistry department for inviting our S1 pupils to join the Shimadzu Science class this week. They had the opportunity to take part in spectrometry and chromatography—a truly enjoyable experience for all involved.
