Pumpkin Carving

Last week, Mr Tennant’s S2 Wellbeing Group got creative with a Halloween activity by carving pumpkins for the school courtyard.

The pupils worked together to design and carve a variety of spooky and fun faces, bringing a festive autumn atmosphere to the heart of the school. 🎃

Keeping KPYP Safe – Fire Safety

As we approach Guy Fawkes Night, our friends at Castlemilk Fire Station want to remind us to keep safe.

We’ve included a short video from the Fire Station that gives a clear visual reminder of fire-safety when fireworks and bonfires are involved.

Pupils Shine in National EE Advertising Campaign

We’re delighted to share some fantastic news about a group of our talented young people who recently took part in auditions with MTP for a national EE advertising campaign promoting safer mobile phone use for young people.

After initial auditions back in June, an incredible 18 pupils were recalled for second and third auditions — and many of them can now be spotted in the final advert!

Our amazing pupils involved were:
C McLaughlan, N Ayordine, J Olatunji, K Bader, M Idriss, M Haider, J McHugh, I McHugh, L Brennan, A Smith, I Cheung, R Stanbridge, M Afeez, M Williamson, A Coburn, C Byrne, A Milliken, A Kyle, T Christie, E Fitzgerald, M Gracie and S Barrie.

A special shout-out goes to L Brennan, who was a natural on camera and one of the standout stars of the advert! He’s absolutely delighted and has even caught the attention of a talent agency following his performance.

A huge well done to all of our pupils who took part and represented King’s Park so brilliantly. We’re so proud of your confidence, creativity and professionalism throughout this experience.

Break a leg, and who knows where this could lead next!

S1 Fancy Dress afternoon party 31st October

Our senior School Captains are organising our annual S1 Fancy Dress party on Friday 31st October in the afternoon during periods 5 and 6. This time will be filled with games, dancing and competition.  There will be a prize for the best dressed too!

Any S1 pupil who would like to change out of their uniform into their fancy dress should do so during lunchtime. All pupils should wear their full uniform to school and during morning classes. All S1 pupils should report to their class at the start of period 5 as normal and they will be directed to the assembly hall at the right time. Arrangements will put in place for pupils who cannot attend the party for any reason.

The captains are looking forward to hosting this event so please listen out for further instruction.

Primary 7 Literacy Event

On Wednesday morning, King’s Park Secondary welcomed our future S1s to a Literacy Event prepared by the English and Modern Languages Departments. They were treated to a carousel of different activities including examples of English literature they may come across in S1, as well as French and Spanish themed word puzzles – not to mention a tasty French Breakfast with chocolate croissants and jus d’orange!

A special thank you to our S2 helpers and Dr Marchidanu, Miss Bateman and Mrs Grondin-Player for creating such a wonderful set-up!

Raising Attainment – Parent/Carer session

Thank you to everyone who shared feedback through our recent parent/carer surveys. You told us that an information session on supporting your child’s attainment would be helpful, so we’re pleased to announce that one is being planned.

Please add the date to your diary — further information will follow shortly.

For parents/carers of all S4-6 pupils.

Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood Education

As part of their Personal and Social Education (PSE) programme, all pupils across all year groups will be learning about Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood (RSHP).

All of the learning materials used in school are available to view at www.rshp.scot, allowing parents and carers to see the full range of age-appropriate resources and topics covered.

You can also find an informative PowerPoint presentation below, which explains the purpose and importance of RSHP education in supporting young people’s wellbeing and understanding of healthy relationships.

If you would prefer to deliver this learning at home and do not wish your child to take part in the school lessons, please contact your child’s Pastoral Care teacher via email.

King’s Park Pupils Gain Insight into Morgan Stanley

During the October holidays, two pupils from King’s Park Secondary School, Max Jagielka (S5) and Harry Grant (S6), took part in the Morgan Stanley Insight Week, a programme designed to give young people a closer look at the world of finance, technology, and professional careers.

Throughout the week, pupils took part in a range of workshops and activities that encouraged teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. Participants also heard from a variety of speakers at different career stages — from pre-graduates to experienced professionals — who offered valuable advice on preparing for interviews, developing employability skills, and exploring career pathways in technology.

This inspiring experience has motivated our pupils to consider future opportunities such as graduate apprenticeships in areas including Information Security, Technology Risk, and Cyber Security.

We’re very proud of our pupils for representing King’s Park Secondary so well and for taking such enthusiasm into this fantastic learning opportunity.
