SCQF Gold Ambassador School

We are delighted to have received the Gold Award for being an SCQF Ambassador school. This is due to all the hard work we have done in sharing the SCQF opportunities for our learners and their different education progression pathways.

Well done to everyone involved!

SQA – Your Guide to exams

All S4 -S6 pupils should read the SQA Guide to your exams, following the link. This is available in digital format only.  We strongly encourage our young people to read this guide as it has valuable information in it regarding SQA exams.

Further details will be shared in preparation for the SQA exams including parent/carer information and an SQA assembly for our young people.

Please see Mrs Kelly if you have any questions.

Attendance Matters Every Day

Every school day makes a difference. By making sure your child goes to school every day, you’re helping them build a bright future and reach their full potential.

What supports do we offer if you or your child need help getting into school?

Your first point of contact for support regarding any concerns over attendance is your child’s Pupil Support Teacher. They will work in partnership with young people and parents/carers to create and implement a plan to support young people to attend school.

Rights Respecting Schools – GOLD!

In February,  UNICEF visited our school for accreditation to the Rights Respecting Schools Award. Just last week we have had it confirmed that we have been successful in being awarded our GOLD Rights Respecting Schools Award. This is quite an achievement so well done to our full school community for putting children’s rights at the forefront of everything we do!

Special thanks to Miss Mussen, the staff and the large groups of young people involved! We will celebrate more later in the session along with a celebration of our school values too.

It is important we continue to learn about, understand and live through Children’s rights as a GOLD school. Participation, pupil voice, fairness, dignity and excellence in education remain the articles most important to us a school on our school charter.

Senior Phase College Applications Closing

The Colleges (City of Glasgow, Glasgow Clyde & Glasgow Kelvin) have informed us that the Application portals for pupils registering for next term’s Senior Phase College programmes will close as of end of business on Wednesday 30th April.

If pupils who intend on attending the Lvl 4-7 programmes next term who have not yet registered can they please to register as soon as possible to ensure that they don’t miss out.

International Women’s Day in French!

Today our S3 French pupils were looking at expressing ideas in French abut International women’s day. The young people were able to further develop their vocabulary through using their dictionary skills before working collaboratively to research a woman who they found to be inspiring and who has had an impact on society.

Adorable Ducklings update

Since Wednesday we have been excitedly welcoming new ducklings in to the Ness Room. We have them for the next 7 days before they go back to the big wide world.

They have been named Cole, Sonny, Dwayne and Custard. We are eagerly awaiting the last duckling.  It was great fun putting them in the water for their first swim.

Keep an eye out for more updates.

Mother Tongue Show

A massive well done to our Diversity Ambassadors for putting together this year’s Mother Tongue Show!

It was a great evening full of a variety of acts ranging from dancing, music and acting, which showcased the cultures at King’s Park Secondary School.

A very big thank you to all of our young people who spent hours rehearsing, who supported the event and to all staff who helped with the running of the event. I think we can all agree that their hard work paid off!

Well done to all those who took part.
