Vision, Values & Aims

Over the last 3 sessions, our BGE Curriculum Innovations Team comprising of a group of BGE learners and staff have been planning to reform our BGE curriculum to better meet the needs of our young people. As a result of consultations with young people and families and with staff and partners, the team developed a Curriculum Rationale for our school which clearly outlines our school vision, values and curriculum goals.

Our BGE Curriculum team have undertaken professional reading, visits to other schools, participated in national curriculum consultations and kept abreast of recommendations from recent reviews and these have influenced our direction of travel with the BGE curriculum, as has our changing school context and our reflections post-covid.

Our School Motto – At King’s Park Secondary, our School Motto is ‘Believe, Achieve’ – this allows us to promote with our young people the importance of them having high aspirations and believing in themselves. We promote ‘Believe, Achieve’ in our daily communications with our young people, in lessons, through our tannoys and school assemblies and you will see this logo in lots of places around our school buildings. It can also be found on all of our school communication, many of the resources we use in our classrooms and on our school hoodies and PE t-shirts to help promote our motto.

Our School Vision – Our school vision helps to show what Believe, Achieve means to us here at King’s Park Secondary and what we want most for our young people –

‘To encourage our young people to believe in and have confidence in themselves and to work hard to achieve their dreams and aspirations’.

As a staff, we are committed to working with our young people and families and with our range of partners to support our young people to achieve their full potential, develop their confidence and make their dreams a reality.

Our School Values – Following an extensive consultation with our young people, families, staff and partners, the values that matter most to us at KPSS are –

  • Kindness
  • Ambition
  • Respect
  • Equality

We ran a competition this session to design a logo to reflect our school values and are delighted to share our fantastic logo created by Grace McDermott of Lewis House. We are a diverse and inclusive school community and this logo is a fantastic reflection of that as well as sharing our chosen values.

We remember our values by referring to K.A.R.E.@KPSS and we promote these values through our daily interactions across our school community. We use our tannoys, assemblies and merits systems to promote our values and to celebrate successes when our young people and staff embody them.

We are in the process of displaying our values across our school so they are prominent and a daily reminder of what Kindness, Ambition, Respect and Equality mean to us all and following a survey with our young people, parents/carers and staff, we have chosen quotes to help exemplify these values which you will see across our school buildings too. We are confident these values are already being demonstrated across our school community and we believe they are evident not only in our classrooms and corridors but also in the work our young people and staff do in our wider community.
