Introduction to the Social Subjects & RMPS Faculty
Our faculty is dedicated to exploring the ways people, cultures, and beliefs have shaped the world. Social Studies helps students understand History, Geography, Sociology and Politics, providing a better understanding of the events and ideas that influence societies. Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies looks at the world’s many faiths, spiritual traditions, and philosophies, encouraging respect for diversity and shared human experiences. Together, these subjects offer valuable insights into the past, present, and future, preparing students to think critically and compassionately about the world around them.
S1-S3 BGE
The Broad General Education in Social Subjects and Religious, Moral, and Philosophical Studies (RMPS) plays a vital role in shaping a child’s understanding of the world and their place in it. These subjects help students explore critical themes such as conflict, protests, climate change, and sustainability, encouraging them to think deeply about societal and global challenges. Through in History, Geography, Modern Studies, and RMPS, students learn to analyse the causes of conflicts, evaluate the impact of protests in bringing about change, and understand the importance of preserving our environment for future generations.
A key strength of this education lies in the development of meta-skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and ethical reasoning. By studying real-world issues, like the struggles for civil rights or global efforts to address climate change, students build the ability to assess information, consider multiple perspectives, make informed decisions. These skills not only enhance academic learning but also empower students to actively participate in discussions about fairness, justice, and sustainability in their communities.
