Black + White Photography Magazine

We are a very proud and excited Art, Design & Photography Department today because the latest issue of Black + White Photography Magazine is released today and it features a brilliant article about our favourite alumni photographer, Simon Murphy, in which he talks about working with many of our King’s Park Secondary pupils including our NPA Photographers.

You may remember that I shared some images on our department Instagram of the class viewing some of their test prints for the first time and the 4th page of the article is some of their work! Homan Shawqi, Hamza Oz, Eve Baillie and Kacper Truszkowski have had photographs published alongside a selection of Simon’s images.

The COVER of the magazine also features the wonderful Eve Baillie, a Photography and Art & Design pupil modelling the structure for her Higher Design piece, a beautiful shot of her showcasing her hard work.

This is part of the ongoing project with King’s Park that Simon has been working on, also alongside our colleagues in Modern Languages and English.

We so delighted for this small sample of our department superstars and grateful to Simon and Black + White Photography Magazine for giving our pupils this unbelievable opportunity.

School Values Logo Competition

Remember, the deadline to enter our School Values Logo Competition is the end of the school day tomorrow!

The logo must feature each of our school values – Kindness, Ambition, Respect and Equality. It should be bright, bold and easy to understand as it will represent our School Community.

Entries can be digital or hand rendered (drawn or painted).

Entries should be put into the Big Blue Box in Miss Joice’s room – (Rm 312, pictured below). Digital entries should be emailed to Miss Joice at gw24joicekatie@glow.sch.uk with your full name and class. The top entries will be selected by a committee following the February Weekend.

Thank you for your ideas!

Senior Art & Design Skills Workshops

Miss Joice’s senior class had a very productive double period today experimenting with ink and dying techniques as part of their second National 4 & 5 Skills Workshop for their Design portfolio.

They’ll use these inked papers to cover their white models, which will then become the final piece of their Design folio.

Have a look through our gallery to see some examples of their inking and their incredible white models.

Fantastic work everyone, exciting things are happening!
