Rights Respecting Schools – GOLD!

In February,  UNICEF visited our school for accreditation to the Rights Respecting Schools Award. Just last week we have had it confirmed that we have been successful in being awarded our GOLD Rights Respecting Schools Award. This is quite an achievement so well done to our full school community for putting children’s rights at the forefront of everything we do!

Special thanks to Miss Mussen, the staff and the large groups of young people involved! We will celebrate more later in the session along with a celebration of our school values too.

It is important we continue to learn about, understand and live through Children’s rights as a GOLD school. Participation, pupil voice, fairness, dignity and excellence in education remain the articles most important to us a school on our school charter.

ECO-SCHOOLS GREEN FLAG!

We are delighted to share we have received our Eco-Schools Green Flag!

The work of the Eco group and Eco classes was commended in the report shared from ‘Keep Scotland Beautiful’. It was recognised that our garden space has been a brilliant venture and by monitoring levels of litter in regular litter picks we are contributing to a cleaner community. Here is a short snippet from the report:

“You have done a great job of involving your local community in your Eco-Schools activities. Your butterfly garden looks amazing and it’s great that this can be enjoyed by everyone in your school community. A big congratulations for all your hard work on your school garden!”

Thank you to those who have led on this wonderful achievement, especially Mr McCauley and the Eco Committee!

Hijab Day!

Esma Oz (S6, Mull) organised Hijab Day for everyone at King’s Park and it was a great event. Esma, and a large group of S6 leaders, shared with us the importance of the Hijab and also let us try them on.

It was brilliant to learn about the Hijab at a well organised celebration!

Thank you all!
