Pupil Equity Funding!

Every year as a school, we receive funding from the Scottish Government to positively improve outcomes for young people. In particular this funding should be used to reduce any equity gap caused by poverty in families and our community. This info-graphic share some information on our spend last session. We would love your suggestions for this session.

If you have ideas, please use this glow form to share your thoughts – https://forms.office.com/e/dyLFxLwYH8

Sports Day 2025!

Our annual Sports Day took place last week under bright skies and an atmosphere full of excitement, determination, and school pride. Students from all year groups came together to represent their house teams in a series of athletic challenges, showing outstanding sportsmanship and enthusiasm throughout the event.

This year’s competition saw a close contest among our four house groups: Mull, Arran, Skye, and Lewis. Every race, jump, and throw added crucial points to the team totals, and the final standings reflected just how tight the competition was:

4th Place – Mull House: 498 points
3rd Place – Arran House: 500 points
2nd Place – Skye House: 501 points
1st Place – Lewis House: 523 points

Congratulations to Lewis House, who claimed the Sports Day trophy with an impressive total of 523 points! Their teamwork, determination, and consistent performance across the events earned them a well-deserved victory.

We would like to thank all the staff, student volunteers, and supporters who helped make the event a success.

Celebration & Launch Day – K.A.R.E @ KPSS

We had a wonderful day on Friday 7th June to celebrate some of our achievements this session. We started off with a GOLD breakfast in the morning, had various activities every period linked to our celebrations and finished up in the afternoon with a launch of our school values in the playground!

We celebrated getting our Green Eco Flag, being a Gold Rights Respecting School and being a Gold SCQF Ambassador School!

We the shared cake, listened to our bands and launched our school values – K.A.R.E @ KPSS from banners to show off our new logo too – Kindness, Ambition, Respect and Equality!

It was a great day celebrating all that we are as a King’s Park community – Well Done everyone! This was a celebration for us all ⭐

Diversity Ambassadors

A group of our S3 (new S4) diversity ambassadors presented today at a Conference for all Head Teachers in Glasgow – All Learners, All Achieving. Along with Miss Anderson Aziz they did a great job of sharing their brilliant work including:

  • information about level 6 leadership
  • contributing to staff learning on anti racism
  • celebrating diversity with their events
  • promoting inclusion for all and upholding the rights of the child
  • updates on their photography project with Simon Murphy

Well Done 😃

Social Enterprise Success!

Some of our S3 pupils have been working with Experian on a Social Enterprise project. This project was then presented to a ‘Dragon’s Den’ to bid for a start up fund.

The group presented their business plan for a swap shop to support those in need of uniform or clothes for summer and successfully gained £100!!!

Well Done to everyone who attended and to the team for working on the presentation, jingle and pitch!

KP Swap Shop will start up soon!

Rights Respecting Schools – GOLD!

In February,  UNICEF visited our school for accreditation to the Rights Respecting Schools Award. Just last week we have had it confirmed that we have been successful in being awarded our GOLD Rights Respecting Schools Award. This is quite an achievement so well done to our full school community for putting children’s rights at the forefront of everything we do!

Special thanks to Miss Mussen, the staff and the large groups of young people involved! We will celebrate more later in the session along with a celebration of our school values too.

It is important we continue to learn about, understand and live through Children’s rights as a GOLD school. Participation, pupil voice, fairness, dignity and excellence in education remain the articles most important to us a school on our school charter.

ECO-SCHOOLS GREEN FLAG!

We are delighted to share we have received our Eco-Schools Green Flag!

The work of the Eco group and Eco classes was commended in the report shared from ‘Keep Scotland Beautiful’. It was recognised that our garden space has been a brilliant venture and by monitoring levels of litter in regular litter picks we are contributing to a cleaner community. Here is a short snippet from the report:

“You have done a great job of involving your local community in your Eco-Schools activities. Your butterfly garden looks amazing and it’s great that this can be enjoyed by everyone in your school community. A big congratulations for all your hard work on your school garden!”

Thank you to those who have led on this wonderful achievement, especially Mr McCauley and the Eco Committee!

Hijab Day!

Esma Oz (S6, Mull) organised Hijab Day for everyone at King’s Park and it was a great event. Esma, and a large group of S6 leaders, shared with us the importance of the Hijab and also let us try them on.

It was brilliant to learn about the Hijab at a well organised celebration!

Thank you all!
