Scottish Power is a long-term partner with EDT, offering exciting placement work, which might also lead to potentially post-placement opportunities, such as apprenticeships, paid vacation work during a degree or graduate scheme opportunities!
What does Scottish Power do?
Scottish Power transmit, distribute and connect electricity to and from millions of homes and businesses over their network and is one of the world’s largest integrated utility companies and are a world leader in wind energy. Scottish Power Renewables are building new solar, wind, battery and green hydrogen infrastructure – ready for the increasing demand for more green, secure and affordable energy to help deliver a better future, quicker.

Am I eligible?
Students need to;
- Be in S5/S6 or Year 13 when they apply to the scheme.
- Have the Right to Work in the UK.
- Be available for a paid 12-month, full time, placement – starting 7th September 2026.
Why do students complete an EDT Placement?
There can be a variety of reasons why students decide to apply for a placement, here are the main ones;
- To gain hands-on relevant skills & experience in a subject or industry they’re considering for the future.
- To help decide on future career paths (apprenticeship or university degree course).
- To gain everyday experience and confidence within a work environment.
- To learn in a new way, outside of the classroom.
- To develop potential links with an employer for future opportunities.
What are the benefits to the EDT Placements scheme?
Each student receives;
- CV & Interview support.
- Mentor support throughout their placement, if placed.
- An opportunity to join free Skills Webinars, called the Masterclasses (with topics such as, project management and time management), if placed.
- An opportunity to gain an Industrial Cadets Platinum or Platinum Leader Award, if placed.
