On a drizzly Monday night under the floodlights, our Under-16 Boys’ Football team delivered a gritty performance to secure a 2-1 victory over St Paul’s in the Glasgow RS McColl Cup.
The match started brightly for our side, with two well-taken goals in the first half. Finlay Dougall opened the scoring after some silky build-up play, and Pieters Mayavo doubled the lead before the break with a composed finished following a world-class save from Aaron Fitzpatrick at the other end, giving us a strong 2-0 advantage heading into half-time.
The second half, however, was anything but straightforward. St Paul’s quickly pulled one back and an early red card left us down to ten men, setting up a tense finale. What followed was a masterclass in resilience and defensive organisation. Every player dug deep, and the team showed incredible character to hold firm against relentless pressure.
Special mention goes to Dillan Carroll, who earned Man of the Match honours for two unbelievable last-ditch interventions that kept our lead intact.
This hard-fought win not only secures our place in the next round but also highlights the teamwork, discipline, and sheer willpower that define this group. Well done, boys!
