S1 Project Based Learning

May was a busy month for our S1 Project Based Learning (PBL) classes!

The S1 Protecting Wildlife class went to Troon to do a beach clean. This was organised by one of the teams who were committed to tackling pollution to help protect marine wildlife. This team reached out to the Marine Conservation Society for advice about the beach clean. As a result, Kirsty from the Marine Conservation Society came to KPSS to deliver an interactive workshop about Marine Pollution for an S1 Science class.

Another PBL team visited Refuweegee, a Glasgow based charity to support refugees in our city. They came back with lots of great ideas on how we can support this vulnerable group in our school and local community.

Our S1 PBL classes worked hard this term to develop their solutions to tackle their Big Question and all teams presented their solutions, along with outlining how they have developed their meta-skills, at our fab showcase in May.

Well done to all our S1 PBL teams and to our S1 PBL teachers for their hard work and commitment to this exciting new learning initiative at KPSS. We can’t wait to see how you get on with your PBL projects in S2!
