Google Classroom P7C

Morning everyone,

Hope you had a nice weekend and spent some quality time with your family. I know I am enjoying spending some more time with mine 🙂

I have added you all to Google Classroom – it’s a great way for me to set you some fantastic activities, I will be doing this after Easter. You must use your Glow login which is inside your pack to accept your invitation that I have sent. For now, I have set you a spelling and maths challenge on Sumdog, why not try and see who can complete before Friday?!

Hope you have been doing some exercise, I have been going out cycling with my dad! The PE that is on daily is Joe Wicks, his videos are so good for children to keep active during this time!

I have also seen many tutorials for drawing mastclasses. This link takes you to a video on YouTube showing how to draw Disney characters. Why not try this and upload your pictures to the blog to show me?

Keep yourself safe and I will speak to you all tomorrow!

Day 7 – 31st March 2020

Dear P7s,

Happy Tuesday!

I hope you enjoyed your Joe Wicks workout this morning – let me know how you did below!

Let’s have another Maths Challenge – Comment below with your answers and remember that if you want more you can always check out the University of Waterloo website here!

At Biscuit Hill Primary School, Chip and his sister, Charlotte, have decided that they want to make cookies for all of the  P6/P7 students in their school. The recipe that they found makes enough chocolate chip cookies of 7 cm diameter for 16 people.

Recipe

1 cup butter

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup white sugar

2 eggs

2 tsp vanilla

2 1/4 cups flour

1 tsp baking soda

300 g chocolate chips

Classes

P6/5: 25 students

P6A: 29 students

P6B: 30 students

P7A: 31 students

P7B: 30 students

P7c: 28 students

a) How many batches should Chip and Charlene make so that they make the exact number of cookies needed for all of the students in the P6/P7 classes?

b) They decide to make a whole number of batches so they have some extra cookies to save for later, and one each for the teachers. What quantity of each ingredient in the recipe will they need?

Now it is also Tuesday so that means its time for a Free Write prompt!

Write a story about this picture (I got this from the New York Times website):

Try to use these words:

mechanical tinkering flashes current cybernetics
scientist glowing electricity experimental advanced
hum sparks inventor inventive goggles

Post your story below! I can’t wait to read it!

Lots of love,

Mrs Lamb 🙂

Day 6 – 30th March 2020

Good Afternoon P7s!

I hope you had a lovely weekend and you were able to spend some of it in the gorgeous weather.

Did you do P.E. with Joe Wicks this morning? Just a reminder that he does some exercise every day! Click on this link to do the workout today!

Let’s have another challenge courtesy of the University of Waterloo in Canada!

Jagheet drives from his house to his cottage, 75 km away, maintaining an average speed of 60 km/h.

a) How long, in minutes, does it take him to drive to his cottage?

b) If he left his house at 11:37 a.m., at what time could he expect to arrive at his cottage?

c) Realising that he forgot to get bread, he stops at the grocery store for 12 minutes. Including this time, what is his new average speed in km/h? (Round your answer to the nearest tenth.)

Post below with your answers! Remember that you can use youtube and google to help you solve these!

Speak to you tomorrow and keep washing those hands!

Day 5

Morning Primary 7C!!

Hope you have had a good week and managed to spend some quality time with family. I hope you have managed to complete some fun things that have been suggested on the Blog but also on Twitter.

Here is a little throwback to last week where we said our “See you soon”

The famous author David Walliams has been putting a free audio book on his website every day – here is the link https://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses/   Why not give it a listen and let me know what you think??

Keep yourself safe and enjoy your weekend as much as you can. I will speak to you on Monday!

Day 5 – 27th March 2020

Happy Friday P7s!

One week done! I hope that you had a good week and that you have spent some quality time with your family doing things that you enjoy!

Let’s have a challenge!!

When Nick shoots a basketball, he either sinks (i.e., makes) the shot or misses. For each shot Nick sinks, he is given 5 points by his father. For each missed shot, Nick’s Dad takes 2 points away. Nick attempts a total of 28 shots and ends up with zero points. How many shots did Nick sink?

The above table may be useful. An example trial of shots made and lost is shown.

This was taken from the website of the University of Waterloo in Canada. They’ve got lots of different problems to choose from! Comment below and tell me how you solved it!

In addition, because it’s the weekend, why not try to learn a different language? Like British Sign Language!

These lovely sisters on Youtube are teaching you how to sign in British Sign Language. I’ve really enjoyed learning how to say Good Morning and how to sign the ABCs! Can you learn how to sign your name?

Remember to have fun this weekend and I’ll talk to you on Monday!

All my love,

Mrs Lamb 🙂

P.S. Just so you don’t think I’ve just been sitting here writing reports, here is a picture of my nearly completed tapestry! Hopefully I can get it finished and sent off to be made into a pillow!

Day 4 – 26th March 2020

Good Morning P7s,

A bit of a throwback! Look at these great photos from our outdoor play session. I particularly like the drum kit!

Here is a link to a website that releases a daily short story by David Walliams! Definitely worth a listen!

I hope you are having fun with your families! I miss your smiling faces!

The Rainbow Challenge – Spread Some Cheer!

Good morning p2!

I was looking through BBC Newsround for something to share with you all and came across the Rainbow Challenge. People all over the country are putting lovely rainbow pictures in their windows at home to help spread some cheer whilst we are all inside isolating. You can spot some if you are out on your daily walk!

Here is my picture which I am going to stick in my window to cheer up the lady who lives opposite.

Why don’t you have a go?

If you would like to share your work or read more, the link to the BBC Newsround article is below.

Have fun and stay safe!
