P5b’s Class of the Month Trip

As a reward for winning Class of the Month, P5b went to the Museum of Transport yesterday. Everyone enjoyed the scavenger hunt quiz which took us all around the museum hunting for clues.

Some of the many memorable exhibits were :

  • lots of old sports cars,
  • the oldest bike in the world,
  • the models of famous ships, many of which were built on the Clyde,
  • the tall ship moored just outside the museum,
  • old rifles and pistols,
  • the reconstruction of an old street in Glasgow,
  • an old hearse pulled by horses.

The children saw a very unusual, old bicycle called a penny farthing and wondered how people managed to ride , or even get onto, it. They said it was really cool to go on the old subway train, but they found it strange how there was no seat for the driver. They also found out how spitting had to be banned on buses and trams to stop  infectious diseases like tuberculosis spreading throughout the city.
