Each year in Hillhead High School, a nurture group runs for a number of S1 pupils.
Nurture is a tried and tested way of relating to children that helps them develop vital social skills, confidence and self-esteem, and become ready to learn. A nurture group is a school-based intervention run by two members of staff with up to six pupils. The aim is develop positive pupil relationships with both teachers/staff and peers in a supportive environment.
When our nurture pupils move into S2, they begin to receive a check-in with a member of the SfL staff.
