Mr Reid

My name is Mr Reid and I am the Head of the PE department at Govan High School and I have been at the school for 15 years.

I have an interest in all sports and activities; however my main sport is football. I have previously worked with the S.F.A as a football development coach and coached many regional squads. When I was 18years old I coached football in America for the summer, which was a fantastic experience, visiting Wisconsin, Indiana, Chicago, Kansas City and Missouri.

My route to teaching was perhaps different to other teachers. I attended Cardonald College, completing my HND before studying at Aberty University in Dundee. My plan initially was to continue to work towards being a sports coach, however an opportunity opened up to do a PGCE course in London to train as a PE teacher.  This was the best decision I have made as I am very proud to be a PE teacher and do my best to help young people to work towards their dreams.

During my time at Govan High School I have also had the pleasure of taking pupils on international trips to widen their horizons. In the past I have been involved with partnerships schools from Portugal, Lithuania, Spain, Belgium, Italy and Poland , which has been really enjoyable. More recently (alongside colleagues)   I have organised international trips to professional football clubs, offering our School of Football pupils the opportunity to train at the first team training complex at Valencia, Villarreal, Real Madrid and Inter Milan
