Blairdardie Primary School

Parent Council

Our Parent Council consists of parents, teachers and co-opted members, who act as the voice of parents and carers in the school. The Parent Council represents your views on educational matters, which contribute to making improvements to school life, support wellbeing and social activities.

Who can join the Parent Council?

All parents/carers with a child at Blairdardie Primary School can join the Parent Council. You can either:

  • become an official member (constituent), for example, Chair, Secretary or Treasurer
  • join a sub-group to organise a specific event or activity
  • become a co-opted member

Co-opted members are volunteers that would like to support a particular topic or area on an as and when basis. This can include educational matters, policies, communications, wellbeing and more.

If you would like to become a member of the Parent Council, or would like to find out more, please email blairdardiepc@outlook.com.

Fundraising events

The Parent Council (PC) holds events for children throughout the year.  Fundraising events include a tuck shop and stalls with raffles, tombola and face painting to help raise money for activities.

All events have a positive impact and the money raised directly benefits our school children.

In addition to social events, the Parent Council make payments to the school to cover costs, such as coach hire for trips, contributions to the cost of gifts for Primary 7 children moving on to new schools, and other items as requested by staff.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Each year the Parent Council holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM) to feedback to parents and the school on important issues raised in the past year. This includes:

  • distributing an annual report
  • providing an overview of fundraising activities
  • sharing a financial report
  • discussing plans for future events and activities
  • providing an update on Parent Council membership
  • and more.

All parents are welcome to attend the AGM and join in with discussions, share ideas and find out how to get involved. Come along to learn more!
