Blairdardie Primary School

Gold Sports Scotland Award!

We were very proud to be awarded with our Sport Scotland Gold Award on Friday the 17th of January.

It can be awarded to any school in Scotland and recognises and celebrates schools who have excellent Physical Education (PE). Sport Scotland’s aim is to encourage children to take part in lots of different types of PE.

How did we win the award?

Schools in Scotland have to prove that they have fantastic teaching and learning in PE. In Blairdardie every pupil has at least 2 hours of PE every week including visiting coaches for football and dance and swimming lessons. We also have lots of sports clubs for all ages in the school, such as basketball, table tennis, junior football and dance. We also have local links with clubs and organisations in our community; we have pupils in Primary 6 using the BMX park in Knightswood every week and local clubs have been invited in during our health week too. Our sports teams participate in competitions and festivals, such as football tournaments, athletics, basketball and netball festivals. We also regularly celebrate the sucess of our pupils who do fantastic work outside of school in competitions. Our Sports Ambassadors play with pupils in the playground and teach them new games.  Our Sports Committee helped organise Health week, conducted surveys with pupils and parents, and helped promote sports within the school.

Our Gold Award

Our School is now listed on the Sport Scotland Website as a Gold award winning school.

We were so proud to receive this award that Miss Campbell hosted a special assembly. A few VIPs came along and had a lovely treat afterwards to celebrate our success.
